You're standing at the Chain Bridge, the oldest bridge across the Danube in Budapest. On one side is Buda with its Castle Hill, on the other side Pest. When the bridge opened in 1849, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. At the time it was hailed as a marvel of modern engineering.
