You're standing at the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest, the museum of Hungary's history. Start with the broad flight of steps and the eight tall Corinthian columns above them. The building is Neoclassical, designed by the architect Mihály Pollack and built between 1837 and 1847. The statues of the portico are by Raffael Monti of Milan. One of them is Hungary herself, an allegorical figure holding a shield with the Hungarian coat of arms, with Science on one side and Art on the other.
