You're standing at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home to old soldiers of the British Army for more than three centuries. Don't let the word hospital fool you. This isn't a place for operations, it's a home. Around three hundred veterans live here, and they're known as Chelsea Pensioners. Spot someone in a bright scarlet coat? That's one of them. Around the grounds they usually wear blue, but when they head further afield, out comes the red coat, complete with the medal ribbons and rank badges from their years of service.
