You're standing on the Dreef in Haarlem, near the Houtplein. On the 7th of March 1945, two months before the end of the war, something terrible happened here. The German occupiers executed fifteen members of the resistance on this spot. Traffic was stopped, and passers-by were forced to stand and watch.
