You're standing at Fort Ricasoli, the largest fort in Malta. It sits on a narrow headland in Kalkara, on the north shore of Rinella Bay. Together with Fort Saint Elmo across the water, it guards the entrance to the Grand Harbour. Notice how the walls follow the ragged coastline. That's why the fort has such an irregular shape.
