You're standing at Verdala Palace, in the middle of the Buskett Gardens near Siġġiewi. This is the summer residence of the President of Malta. Take a look at its shape. A rectangular block with a five-sided tower on every corner, each about five storeys tall, while the building itself has just two floors. All around runs a dry ditch cut into the stone. It looks like a fortress, but that's mostly for show. The palace was never meant to hold off a real attack. Still, there were four cannons up on the roof.
