You're standing at Santa Maria dei Miracoli, in Venice's Cannaregio district. It's also called the marble church, and one look at the façade tells you why. The whole thing is clad in coloured marble: veined grey, green serpentine, yellow, red and the white stone of Istria. Look closely and you'll spot inlaid squares, crosses, stars and wheels.
