You're standing outside Leighton House, on Holland Park Road in west London. This was the home and studio of Frederic Leighton, a wealthy Victorian painter and President of the Royal Academy. You might know his famous painting Flaming June. Take a look at the front. Red Suffolk brick, pale Caen stone trim, and a calm, classical style. Pretty modest, right? That's the trick of this house: understated outside, a fairy tale within. Keep an eye out for the blue plaque London put up for Leighton in 1958.
