You're standing at the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, London. Look up. This ornate Gothic structure is 54 metres tall and takes the form of a canopy over the high altar of a church. Beneath it sits Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband, in gilded bronze. He faces south, straight towards the Royal Albert Hall. He's robed as a Knight of the Garter and holds a catalogue of the Great Exhibition, which was held nearby in Hyde Park.
