Fort Werk 1 aan de Koedijk in Hilversum

You're standing at the Koedijk, a nature area of the Gooi Nature Reserve between the Hilversum common and the Bussum neighbourhood of Het Spiegel. Look at the long line of trees and shrubs. That's a wooded bank, and it once had a very practical job. On one side lay heathland with sheep, on the other side meadows with cows. The bank kept the sheep off the meadows and the cows off the heath.
