You're standing at the Sibberhuuske, on the edge of the village of Sibbe near Valkenburg. Look at the eastern corner. There's a sturdy sixteenth-century tower, with a slate spire that narrows in the middle. That's the oldest part of this castle farm. Next to it you see a low and a taller living wing from the seventeenth century, built in the local Meuse Renaissance style. Notice the stripes in the wall: brick with bands of marl, the soft local limestone.
