You're standing in the inner courtyard of the Provinciehuis, the provincial government building in The Hague, at a war memorial called Dwangarbeiders, which means forced labourers. Start with the tree in the middle. Around it runs a raised brick edge, and on top of that stands a ring of stainless steel. Walk slowly around it and look at the inside of the ring. You'll see small human figures there. The memorial was designed by Marcel Prins and unveiled on the first of November 1999.
