You're standing at the Indies Monument, in the Scheveningse Bosjes woods in The Hague. This is a place to be quiet. The monument remembers all Dutch citizens and soldiers who died in the Second World War as a result of the Japanese occupation of what was then the Dutch East Indies. They died in battle, in the camps, or during forced labour.
