Castle Duivenvoorde in Voorschoten

You're standing at Duivenvoorde Castle, near Voorschoten. Look at the moated house in front of you. Above the entrance door you'll see the year 1631. That's when the rebuild into the country house you see today was finished. But the place is much older: a fortified tower here is already mentioned in 1226, making it one of the oldest castles in South Holland.
