You're standing at the Haus der Kunst, on Prinzregentenstraße, right at the southern edge of the Englischer Garten, Munich's biggest park. Take a good look at this building. A long, heavy stone front, strict and symmetrical. It feels solemn, almost like a temple. That's no accident. This was the very first major building project of the Nazis. Adolf Hitler laid the founding stone himself in October 1933, and architect Paul Troost designed it in a monumental neoclassical style.
