You're standing at Schloss Wilhelminenberg, on the eastern slope of the Gallitzinberg, at the western edge of Vienna. This is where the Vienna Woods begin. Take a look at the pale palace in front of you. It looks like something out of a fairy tale, but it's younger than you might think. It was built between 1903 and 1908 in the French Second Empire style, designed by the architects Eduard Frauenfeld and Ignaz Sowinski. Together with the park and the outbuildings, it cost 1.4 million crowns.
