Castle Ter Horst in Voorschoten

You're standing at the Ter Horst estate, part of the larger De Horsten estate. Something has stood on this spot for a very long time. The first building was a kind of castle. It's sometimes said that Philips van Wassenaar built it around 1200, but nobody knows for sure. That castle had bad luck. It was destroyed in 1393, rebuilt, and then knocked down again in 1420. What followed was a simple rebuild.
