You're standing at Museum De Bastei in Nijmegen, on the Waalkade, right at the foot of the Valkhof hill. Look at the sturdy round tower on the quay. That's a bastei, a horseshoe-shaped defensive tower. The design was invented in the sixteenth century by none other than the German artist Albrecht Dürer. The museum takes its name from this tower.
