You're standing at the Church of Our Saviour, in the Christianshavn district of Copenhagen. Look straight up, because that's what this place is all about. The black and gold spire looks like a corkscrew. A staircase winds around the outside of it, four full turns, anticlockwise. Right at the top, on a gilded globe, stands a four-metre figure of Christ holding a banner. It has a reputation as the ugliest sculpture in Copenhagen. But the odd proportions are deliberate: it was made to be seen from far away.
