You're standing at the Palace of Ajuda, high on a hilltop above Lisbon. From up here you look out over the old city and the Tagus River. Start with the eastern façade, the main entrance on Largo da Ajuda. It's neat, symmetrical limestone, with three arches at the bottom, columns above and a tower on each side. This was one of the very first neoclassical buildings in the city. See that little tower standing on its own out front? That's the clock tower, the Torre do Galo, or Rooster's Tower.
