You're standing at the Museu de Marinha, Lisbon's Navy Museum, right in the heart of Belém. Take a look at that long, richly decorated façade. The museum lives in the western wing of the Jerónimos Monastery, the famous monastery right next to it. This wing is built in the neo-Manueline style, a later revival of Portugal's wonderfully ornate way of building. You're sharing the building, by the way, with the National Museum of Archaeology. And on the north side of the monastery there's a modern annex that belongs to the Navy Museum too.
