Belém National Palace in Lisbon

You're standing at the Belém Palace, the official residence of the President of Portugal. Have a look at the main front. It faces Afonso de Albuquerque Square and looks out over the Tagus River. This started life as a summer retreat by the water, and you can still feel it: everything here is turned towards the river.
