You're standing in Rotterdam's Museumpark, in front of a white villa. This is the Chabot Museum. First, look at the house itself. It was designed in 1938 in the Dutch modernist style known as Nieuwe Bouwen, the New Building. That style is all about light, air and space, with plenty of glass and new materials like steel and concrete. The architects were Gerrit Willem Baas and Leonard Stokla, and they built it as a family home for the Kraaijeveld couple.
