You're standing at the Waterburcht of Eelde, a medieval moated castle site in the hamlet of Zuideinde, just south of the village. You won't see a castle, but take a good look at the land. There are two man-made islands, one of them a mound, and around them there were probably five to seven moats in rings. Together they made a circle about a hundred and sixty to a hundred and eighty-five metres across.
