Ondermolen D in Alkmaar

You're standing at Ondermolen D, one of the windmills along the Noordervaart canal in Schermerhorn. On either side you can see its neighbours, Ondermolen C and Bovenmolen E. Take a look at its shape. It's an eight-sided mill, covered entirely in thatch, and it stands right on the ground. The Dutch call that a ground sailer. Its sails use the traditional old Dutch pattern.
