You're standing on Krystalgade, at number 12, outside the Great Synagogue of Copenhagen. This is home to the city's Orthodox Jewish congregation, and the building has stood here since 1833. Take a look at the façade. It's strikingly plain. Architect Gustav Friedrich Hetsch went for a Neoclassical style, with clean lines and very little decoration. From out here, nothing gives away what's waiting inside.
