You're standing at the Resistance Memorial in Wijk bij Duurstede. Start with the sculpture on top. It shows two men's heads, carved in natural stone. Notice something? They're each looking in a different direction. That's deliberate. One head stands for the time of sorrow and suffering. The other stands for the strong will to rise above that misery. Grief and hope, quite literally back to back.
