You're standing at the Glienicke Bridge, which crosses the Havel River between Berlin and Potsdam. On one side is Berlin's Wannsee district. Take a good look at the green steelwork. Notice how the green on the Berlin side is darker than on the Potsdam side? That difference in colour is a quiet reminder of the border that once ran right across the middle of the bridge.
