You're standing at Huis Nederhoven, a moated hunting lodge in Beegden, on the north bank of a stream called the Sleijbeek. Start with the water around the house. People have lived on this spot for centuries. The first house stood here back in the fifteenth century, and the house you see now was built on its foundations in 1614.
