You're standing at Nieuwenbroeck Castle, on the edge of the village of Beesel. Look across the moat at the white house. The oldest part is an L-shaped house with stepped gables, built around 1560 by Johan van Holthuysen. He married Helwig van Holtmeulen, the heiress of the local lord, and this is where they made their home.
