Merton College in Oxford

You're standing at Merton College, one of the colleges of the University of Oxford. It was founded in 1264 by Walter de Merton, chancellor to King Henry the Third. Merton likes to call itself the oldest college in Oxford. Balliol and University College claim the same, but Merton was the first to have its own statutes, a written set of rules for how the college was run.
