You're standing at Casa Presei Libere, the House of the Free Press, in the north of Bucharest. Take a look up at that huge tower. Does it remind you of something? It should. Architect Horia Maicu modelled it on the main building of Moscow State University. This is Stalinist style through and through, Socialist realism in stone. Without its television antenna it stands 91.6 metres tall, and with the antenna about 104 metres. From 1956 until 2007, this was the tallest building in the city.
