University Square in Bucharest

You're standing on Piața Universității, University Square, right in the centre of Bucharest. Honestly, it feels more like a huge crossroads than a square, and that's exactly what it is. After 1880, city planners laid out the great crossroads of Bucharest here, inspired by Paris and Haussmann's wide boulevards. It never became a grand monumental square. Instead it turned into the capital's most important road junction, right at the geometric centre of the city.
