You're standing at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, known as MANN for short. It's one of the most important archaeological museums in the world. The big building in front of you used to have a very different job: for a long time it housed the University of Naples. In 1777 King Ferdinand the Fourth turned it into a royal library and museum. From 1816 it was called the Royal Bourbon Museum.
