You're standing at the Mole Antonelliana, the landmark of Turin. Look up, past that huge square dome to the slender spire. The building is just over 167 metres tall, and it has no steel skeleton at all. It's the tallest unreinforced brick building in the world. In Italian, a mole simply means a building of monumental size, and the name comes from its architect, Alessandro Antonelli.
