You're standing at the Castle of Moncalieri, on a hill just south of Turin. First, take in the shape. The building is a horseshoe opening to the south, with a massive square tower on every corner. The side wings rise five floors, with brick walls and sturdy buttresses. This is one of the residences of the House of Savoy that UNESCO added to its World Heritage list in 1997.
