You're standing on Freedom Square in Tallinn, in front of the War of Independence Victory Column. In Estonian it's called Vabadussõja võidusammas. Take a look up. The pillar is 23.5 metres tall and made of 143 glass plates. At the top sits the Cross of Liberty, Estonia's most distinguished award, created in 1919. So what you're really looking at is one giant, glowing medal.
