You're standing at Kiek in de Kök, a stout round artillery tower on the southwest side of Tallinn's Old Town. Take a look up. It rises thirty-eight metres and is seventeen metres across. Its walls are a full four metres thick. It was built in 1475, to defend the city against attackers with cannon.
