You're standing at the Temple of Augustus in Pula, one of the best-preserved Roman temples anywhere outside Italy. Start with the front. Four tall columns hold up the roof, and the whole building sits on a raised podium with steps leading up. The columns are Corinthian, so look for those richly carved, leafy tops. It isn't huge: about eight by seventeen metres, and fourteen metres high. But it's remarkably complete.
