You're standing at the Ponte di Tiberio in Rimini, a Roman bridge that's around two thousand years old. For centuries, people simply called it the Bridge of Augustus. Start with the five round arches. They're faced with white Istrian limestone, most likely shipped here by sea. Between the arches you'll spot little façades that look like miniature temples, though they're empty inside. And on the keystones above the arches there are imperial symbols, like an oak wreath honouring Augustus.
