You're standing at the Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral, the largest church in Varna and one of the city's symbols. It's also the third largest cathedral in Bulgaria. The square by the main entrance, on the west side, is named after Saints Cyril and Methodius. Start by looking up. Those shining domes are copper. Over the years they turned green with patina, and in the spring of 2000 they were rebuilt and gilded. The façade got a makeover that same year.
