You're standing at the Varna Archaeological Museum, one of the largest museums in Bulgaria. Before you go anywhere, take a good look at the building itself. It's a stately Neo-Renaissance design by the well-known architect Petko Momchilov. But it was never meant to be a museum. It went up between 1892 and 1898 as the Varna Girls' School. Picture schoolgirls hurrying in and out of these doors with their books.
