You're standing at Red House in Bexleyheath, in south-east London. When this house was finished in 1860, this was still the little village of Upton, out in the Kent countryside, with apple and cherry trees all around. The designer William Morris had it built for himself and his new wife Jane. He designed it together with his friend, the architect Philip Webb. It was Webb's first project on his own, and the only house Morris ever built.
