You're standing at the Burcht of Voorne in Oostvoorne, also known as the Jacoba Burcht. What you see is a ruin on a mound, surrounded by a moat. That mound is no accident. It's a motte, a man-made hill of sand, so that from the top you could look far out over the mouth of the river Maas and the surrounding land.
