Lello & Irmao Bookstore in Porto

You're standing at Livraria Lello, one of the oldest bookshops in Portugal. It regularly turns up on lists of the world's finest bookshops. Both Lonely Planet and The Guardian ranked it third. Take a look at the façade. It mixes Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau, topped off with three decorated pinnacles. Down below there's a wide arch split into three, with the entrance in the middle. Above it, two painted figures represent Art and Science. And over the arch you'll spot the firm's name, picked out in bright colours.
