You're standing between the villages of Stavenisse and Sint-Maartensdijk, on the Zeeland island of Tholen, next to a sculpture also known as The Sea Monster. Take a good look at it. Do you see a fish? Or a monster? Both are right. Sculptor Gerrit Bolhuis wanted to show how the people of Zeeland feel about the sea: it brings good fortune, but also disaster.
