You're standing at Fort Altena, officially the Fort on the Uppel Dyke, between Werkendam and Sleeuwijk. It's part of the New Dutch Waterline, a line of defence that worked by flooding the land. This fort had to seal off the dyke and guard the road from Gorinchem to Breda.
