You're standing at the Fort near the Steurgat, in the Noordwaard area of the Brabant Biesbosch, just southwest of Werkendam. This is the southernmost fort of the New Dutch Waterline. It was built in 1881 and 1882 to close off the Nieuwe Merwede river and the Steurgat, a navigable creek that runs right nearby.
