You're standing at the House of Menander, the Casa del Menandro, one of the richest homes in ancient Pompeii. It covers about eighteen hundred square metres and fills most of its city block. Whoever lived here had money, influence and taste. Take a close look at the outer walls. You can still spot Roman graffiti there, scribbled by people walking past almost two thousand years ago.
