Ruins Lupanar (VII.12.18) in Pompei

You're standing at the Lupanar, the most famous brothel in Pompeii. It sits about two blocks east of the forum, close to the Stabian Baths, on the corner of two narrow lanes: Vico del Lupanare and Vico del Balcone Pensile. The word lupanar comes from lupa. That means she-wolf, but it was also the Roman word for a prostitute.
